I was wondering if any thought had ever been made about having a way to intereact with accounting software? So easy import of sales etc directly into the software?

I can see it being a pain for all software, but maybe some select few? For instance, Sage will import sales in CSV format.

Hi
I've done this (not with OpenCart) a few years ago for a "Baan - enterprise resource planning system" and a custom built shop on a PHP/IIS/MS-SQL Server.
But if you got MySQL5 running, you could achieve the same by creating a "VIEW" on the OpenCart order tables, with all fields required for importing into your accounting software. You may end up with a lot of SQL syntax stuff like JOIN, CONCAT, AS, SUBSTRING… but once you've done this you may get by using phpMyAdmin or a very simple php script generating the the CSV to your accounting software needs.
I did not have to change anything in 6 years there, even when some of the database was changed. So I'd recommend building a VIEW for this…

Cheers

Well, I guess I'm not the only one to have thought about it, lol

I'm afraid my skills do not stretch far enought o do somethign like this (infact, they don;t go anywhere near it) as I am not a developer, but it was an idea. I would be interested in something like this at some point.

I guess it's a case of what accounting software to support if it was produced as a module.

Why do Accounting standards differ from country to country? Do you think that accounting practices will converge globally? In other words, will we ever have global accounting standards?

Can you please list the accounting softwares you are using?
Maybe all you need is a CSV import tool, which should work on any software that exports in CSV/XLS, rather than something that is totally custom for one specific software.

If you run a online store and you sell things, one is required to keep a record of all transactions for the tax man, that is essential!!!!!!

How are people keeping a record of transactions using Opencart?
Are people re-inputting every transaction into a accounting package manually? eeeeeek...

Opencart will without a doubt be used mainly by small businesses. Opencart needs solutions for popular small business accounting packages like Quickbooks, to save hours and hours of work. Also, companies like Kashflow (online accounting), need to support Opencart and also companies like: http://www.webgility.com/ need to develop a Opencart Quickbooks solution.

Once Opencart has a few solid accounting software interactions, then I will for sure use Opencart for my online store, its excellent :)

Currently integrating OpenCart with Visma Global swedish/norwegian accounting program.
Retrieving info from MSSQL server via native sql driver, and placing orders by creating CSV import file and manually approving it in Visma.

We have been successfully developed Opencart FrontAccounting Integration. This integration have been extended to vtiger crm and have the ability to synchronize Customers, Contacts, Categories, Products, Services, Stock Status, Vendors, Purchases Order, Quotations, Sales Order and Sales Invoices.

For Opencart FrontAccounting Integration, we have divided into 2 categories:

1) One-ways synchronization from Opencart to FrontAccounting
- Customers
- Categories
- Products
- Sales Orders
- Sales Invoices

2) Two-ways synchronization for Opencart and Frontaccounting
- Sales Invoices status can be approved by administrator in both system. The status will be in synced in both system.

For FrontAccounting vtigerCRM Integration, we have also divided into 2 categories:

1) One-ways synchronization from FrontAccounting to vtigerCRM
- Currency

2) Two-ways synchronization for Frontaccounting and vtigerCRM
- Customers
- Contacts
- Categories
- Products
- Services
- Stock Status
- Vendors
- Purchases Order
- Quotations
- Sales Order
- Sales Invoices

The solutions above will make your system in synced and reduce the duplicate data entry and redundant works for those system. If you are interested with our solutions, you may visit us at http://www.anterp.com

Kashflow is one I would be interested in. Apparently Magento hooks up with it. Plus it's in with Google Apps, which are becoming mega popular for running small businesses, and big ones too if the blurb is true.

I think some sort of integration would make OC a viable option for people who are considering it but aren't sure.

Just my thoughts :)

There is a quickbooks order importer in the extensions store. It works well for me for a single order exported for the order screen, though the mass exporter from order list has never worked for me and the developers sadly haven't responded to my emails again. It might work better on 1.5.5 (I use 1.5.2). Honestly though, it's faster for me to just manually type in orders than export them one at a time and import them.

Running Opencart v3.0.3.9 with multi-stores and the default template from https://www.labeshops.com which has links to all my stores.
