Can get a checkbox next to the product price that would be enterd price is:
"checked - With tax / Unchecked- without tax"

So it would be easy to add prices if you have them with tax .. cos its just a pain to count it back and forth manually..

um.. you would still have to count it back and forth, because a checkbox would do nothing to calculate whether you entered a product price as Gross or Net (with or without tax)

2ndly, a new calculation would need to be made that can work out tax from the gross price as currently opencart only works it out from the net price (without any mods installed)

So if you wanted a checkbox next to the product price, ticked would be including tax, and unticked would mean excluding tax. If the checbox was ticked, it would then need to take the price, deduct correct amount of tax from it, and then alter the price field.

Opencart then calculates the new price field, and again, adds tax to it to be displayed on the cart.

Seems abit "arse backwards".

What i would suggest is this.

Search google for how to subtract percentages and use a spreadsheet to alter all gross product prices to net product prices.

Even more simple is to use the free mod import / export tool, you can export your product details to a spreadsheet. then you simply manually enter the price including tax, and run a spreadsheet formula to alter those figures to exclude tax.

When you perfect the technique, it will take you 2 seconds to update prices, and save yourselve paying someone to reverse a function opencart uses so you can simply tick a box, to then recalculate all over again to display in the cart.

yeah i know how to do that lol ..
but the way f.ex. virtuemart does it do seem to be more practical at times.

it was just a suggestion to make life easier.

a little bit of jquery would work sxguy :)
either that or convert to the tax free price in the controller module and use that.

I think it's a good idea and when i get time I'll make a vQmod

Great smifis!! It's so annoying to calculate the net price to show a rounded VAT included price in the store...
The world will be grateful for your module!!
Happy new year and looking forward to your vQmod :)

Any update about this? I'm interested in this as well ..

Also is there a way to make The free Export / Import tool add in the additional field of Price including Tax? I'm currently using uksitebuilder's way of solving this issue, whereby he's using a VQmod way...

Excl Tax ___ Inc. Tax_____

_____ denotes the box.

And Once entered the amount in either box, the computation would be done....

However, I face the issue of future updating of prices, thought would be better to use the Export Import Tool and add in the Price Inc Tax field....

Any suggestions?

No more using Apsona, as they are not updated.

  • Every upgrade -- rem. 2 reinstall vqmod & mindful of modules w/ VQmod -- E.g Import / Export Tool by MHC

Hello all here.

It seems that a solution for you is just announced. It's called Price Input Helper.

Here is the announcement link: http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... on_id=7045

Waiting for your purchase, rating and further improvement suggestions ::)
