Exporting database links lead back to my old site

Hi I have been using opencart for a while but now I need to move a database to another site created in Opencart. I backed up the old database, emptied the new one and imported the old to the new. The problem is this, all looks ok but all the links revert back to my old site. Can anyone tell me how to do this correctly, I cant find any useful help on the forums.
