Is there some reason every single option available to a product is displayed in the cart regardless of it being chosen by the user? It would make the most sense if the only options shown are those selected wouldn't it?

Every option is a dropdown box.. which means there is ALWAYS a selected option.

Brilliant that answer may be, it's besides the point.

But nevermind. I did a little hacking and have a solution.

Nice attitude.. but its exactly the point.

You have a product with 3 options:

Product 1
Color:
---- Red (default)
---- Blue
---- Green

Size:
---- Small (default)
---- Med
---- LG

Condition:
---- New (default)
---- Old
---- Refurb

of all those defaults will be selected just by clicking the add to cart button. Since they are dropdowns, there is no way for a customer to not choose an option. The result then is the cart showing:
Product 1
- Red
- Small
- New

Brilliant enough for you?

Funny that. I thought your attitude was problematic.

But oh well. It's sorted.

Thanx for the input.

Well now that you read the long answer, does the short answer make sense? I wasn't being snotty I was simply explaining why you see a line for each option. OpenCart doesn't currently support "optional" options like checkboxes or textboxes. It only offers forced options like select boxes (also radio buttons would be a forced option). So all options on a product would be relevant to show in the cart sidebox.
