My first opencart (v1.5.1) store is now complete! Well, 98% complete - I'll continue to tweak forever. http://www.potjiepots.com/ is my store for cast iron cookware.

Nothing earth shattering design wise - a lot of alterations of the default template. But I learned a ton and am working on doing more on my other stores. I continue to be excited by what opencart can do.

Running Opencart v3.0.3.9 with multi-stores and the default template from https://www.labeshops.com which has links to all my stores.

Nice looking store, even more so considering its your first one :)

Can I ask though, how you managed to get information, customer service links etc in the footer?

Thanks

Thanks. It's my first Opencart store, but I've had online stores for 10 years with other software :)

The information links in the footer are there by default with the default template that comes with oc :) I did modify them a bit and hard coded a couple in different places and that I didn't want to show automatically in the links. But it's part of default template/common/footer.tpl

Take a look at how I did my site with the white background. What do you think? The teal is kind of a strong color. Also, you can make the default layout Grid instead of list on the products page. You have to find it in the code. I just opened up a copy on my local computer and looked for the word Grid and changed it. I think it looks nicer when it loads that way by default.

Yeah I've done a default grid view on several of my stores. It works well when you have a lot of products but I like the description visible on ones like the potjie pots since most people want to see capacity, etc right away. Some of my sites have white backgrounds too - I vary my designs.

Thanks.

I've been experimenting with the bottom toolbar. It's a free service from wibiya and has some nice features. Haven't had any complaints about it so leaving it for now :)

Very nice store! I really like the social widget on the left. Were did you get it? Is that an OC module?

Thanks. The social widget on the left I wrote based on a slider code I found online. Took me a bit to figure out, but not too hard. I believe there is an extension to do something similar.

I use the social sliders and the top bar with my logo as a common thread on all my stores for branding identification. (well, all my oc stores. still have 6 other software ones to convert to oc once I have enough of their products added to the database).

Still have a few little things to work out - some links still want to convert to allwicca.com for some stupid reason though it is NOT my default store. My second store to be nearly done is http://www.cosplaycostumecloset.com :)
