I positioned the categories in the left side of the homepage.
problem is: it changes the enlightenment of the whole page: http://noajewelry.com/oc/index.php?route=common/home

Is there any way to have the left sidebar without this mess?

Your image too big?
Reduce the size of the image and see if that helps - do not reduce the resolution but the size itself - upload it and see if that makes any difference

Nope, when categories defined in the left all the rest of the cubes begins in the right of the categories .
