Howdy. So I followed the checklist posted in the forum (great stuff) to remove the sample information and data from the install of open cart.

Now the products, categories, attributes, etc. are gone. HOwever, so it the main menu (the horizontal strip of categories that was once at the top of the home page).

I added categories again, but the main menu bar never shows up. I added subcategories and added products to test it, but still no main menu.

Is there an additional task I need to do in order to get the main menu working again?

Never mind. There's a "top" flag you set to make it show up as a top level menu. Problem solved!

This got me too, its only after going back in to check for the ninth or tenth time did I see that option!

Ah, you can set this flag inside the properties of each category..

Where is that flag??? i search and search.... ( i'm blind!

This got me aswell.
1. Go to Catalog > Categories
2. Click edit on the category you want to add to the main menu.
3. Go to the Data tab
4. There are two tick boxes that need to be ticked. Stores & Top.
