so i am testing out a complete round trip order through the paypal sandbox. everything seemed to work, except that my store e-mail account did not receive an email notification that i received an order.

does opencart send an email to the merchant when a new order happens? my buyer received the order invoice e-mail, but my merchant email did not. under admin -> configuration -> settings -> "mail" tab, i have the e-mail address entered correctly and "send e-mails" is set to yes. i tried a few different email accounts in there and tested a few times but don't receive any notification of new orders

in the sandbox it is in the email account with in the sandbox... not the store email..

:)

as a live system  it works 100% I assure you - admin will get an email

the only e-mail in the sandbox account is the paypal notification telling me to capture the funds. nothing from opencart. doesn't seem to make sense though, the only place that email address gets typed in is the paypal configuration. ao what if i was using another payment type other than paypal - shouldn't there be an email from opencart send to the store owner's email address?

which webhoster do you use? Is it a free webhoster?

no, it is not a free web host, and i do not typically have issues with e-mails sending. like i say, the buyer gets the notification e-mail but the shop does not. to clarify, the shop DOES get an email from paypal, but i am looking to confirm if opencart is supposed to send its own notification to the shop.

I am wondering the same thing, I am not receiving E-mails from OpenCart when orders are placed and this would be good so I could forward the orders to other employees who need to ship the orders.

It works fine when I test it.

just tested this.

in my admin under settings -> mail, i have a valid email address typed in and "send emails" is set to Yes.

i enabled COD shipping, and used my test customer account to place an order COD.

my test user received the confirmation/receipt email.

nothing was sent to the e-mail address in settings -> mail.

Its not sopposed to send emails to the store email address just the customer email address.

so that was my question in the original post. does opencart not send a notification email to the store owner when a new order happens? i guess the answer is no  ;D

so if the payment type is COD, how would i know when i have an order (other than repeatedly checking the admin page)?

i think it is important to have the option to send new order notifications to the shop admin email as well as the customer. what exactly is the "Send Emails Yes/No" option controlling right now?

which will BCC the order notification email to the admin/shop email address.

this is written for opencart 0.7.6.1.
