Currently I'm building my site with Drupal 6/Ubercart 2 http://www.altgro.com which I have used for a few other smaller commerce sites before with success but these were smaller products that only required on shipping type for all products. Now I love the way D/UC work for customer interaction and cross selling posibilities since the two systems tie into one but problem is when you mix item that have say standard shipping (Canada Post) and Flatrate/By Weight. What happens is at checkout UC doesn't have the ability to seperate the products by shipping method and only gives you the choice of choosing one shipping method for all.

What I need is something like this

Item A (Canada Post/UPS/Puralator)
Item B (Canada Post/UPS/Puralator)
Item C (Freight)
Item D (Free Shipping)

At check out I need the items to be seperated into different lines with each item type combo having its own shipping choices.

Items (a+b bundled into one package) customer chooses Canada Post/UPS/Puralator
item C sperate line with automatic Freight shipping
Item D seperate line with free shipping.

Also

Does Opencart provide the ability to allow weight/dimensions per product attribute.

For example I'll be selling liquid products which come in bottle sizes of 1L and 4L bottles and obviously the bottle have different dimensions and weight. I'd like to use attributes for this to minimize the amount of products in the catalog. If so would Opencart have the ability to use the dimensions/weight form the attribute to calculate shipping more accurately?

Thanks

No, and no. I don't know any stock carts that can do this without custom programming.

Well... Prestashop is able to do that.
In the attribute you have to set the weight so then the cart will have it's weight set according to the product and his attributes.

The closest you're going to find to this is using a combination of my Individual Product Shipping and Restrict Shipping Methods by Product extensions. That would allow a different shipping method to be selected for each product, as well as limit the number of shipping options displayed for each product.

However, it can't do a combo of items in a single package (unless you have them as different options of a single product, and use the 1.4.9 version of Individual Product Shipping).
