HI

I'm a newbie and have minimal programming skills. I can follow instructions if they are clear, concise and accurate. I have searched this forum for this but the answers I found seem to either be not exactly what I want or the instructions are not written for dummies. (like me) Also some instructions say look for this code..... but the code does not exist in the file referenced. I am using V1.5.0.5 and most answers are written for earlier versions.

This is what I want to do. My store sells mostly one of a kind items. If there are multiples there are usually only a few and I will not be restocking any time soon. However, I still want items that have been sold to remain on display with either the stco status saying "Sold!" in red or a graphic of the word "Sold!" next to the picture.

Then the next thing I want is for the item not to be allowed to be put in the cart, either by removing / disabling the "add to cart" button or by having the program have a popup that says "This item has been sold"

Can anybody help me out with that? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that but..... How do I install it. I saw on the page you referenced where you gave a link that is supposed to have install instructions, but I do not see instructions that I can understand. I see a theory of operation, (how it works), I see "Features" but I do not see ...

1. Do this
2. Do that

As I said in my original post, my programming skills are minimal and I need clear concise instructions (for dummies)

I appreciate your help and the mod looks like what I want but I am clueless. Please KISS (Keep It Simple for Stupid)

Thanx
Rick

I followedthe install.txt file instructions included with vqmod 1.2.3. I uploaded vqmod 1.2.3 as per the instructions. I had the webmaster at my host change the folders to writable as the instructions said. I uploaded the mod referenced aboce to the root folder and ran install from /mystore/vqmod/install. It said "success vqmod has been installed.

I testyed the mod. It did no work.

I moved the mod into the vqmod folder and ran install again. It still does not work.

I went to the site referenced in this post. I cannot find what I am doing wrong.

I just checked the index.php files referenced in the manual install instructions. They have not been modified. Does that mean the installer did not work?

Ok so I altered the 2 index.php files as outlined in the manual install instructions and now I get server error 500 when I try to go to the website. So I put back the old index.php files.

I also found an ftp program that allows me to set folder permissions myself. I tried changing the permissions as suggested and still got server error 500

I'm getting pretty frustrated here. I'm not dumb just inexperienced. There is much in the above referenced links that are probably simple for experienced programmers but for a newbie it is gobbeldygook. My training was in Assembly language as I am a hardware tech, and I taught myself Basic (in the 80's). I understand html but I do not understand the relationships between these files nor the flow of the programs. I can look at the code and can see and understand when it is defining variables or testing for conditions, but again, much of the instruction I see appears written for people who know more than I do and leave a lot of assumptions that I am lacking.

please HELP!!!!!! Be clear and concise. Step 1 - do this, step 2 - do that.
