Thanks to iloveopencart for finding the initial bug in the news package.

I personally find very useful the "Homepage" and "Description in Category" additions. I think they should be added to the main project... Its really tiresome to update them every time a new version comes up... Specially the FAQ addition, that was a long procedure.... but a nice one

Has this been tested with v1.2.5?

Pretty much all the modules that I released for version 1.2.4, with the exception of the "Featured/Specials" mod, should be compatible with 1.2.5. Although, I haven't tested them as yet, I can't see any reason why they shouldn't work with 1.2.5.

Hi fido,
just trying to download News module for 1.2.x from your site and I've got myself caught in a loop!
Code: Select all
<loop>
step 1- click download button but all I get is an index.php file?
step 2 - after one download attempt it goes back to 0 downloads left, so I have to 'buy' it again.
go to step 1
<endloop>
Can you help please?
Thanks
Mark

Don't know what you did to get that result. After seeing this post, I did a test myself and was presented with a "news_124a.zip", which is what I expected. However, to save you the trouble of going through the process of "buying" it again, I'll send you a copy via PM.
With regard to the "0 downloads left", I felt that 1 download should be sufficient. After all, how many copies does a person really need?
PS: Seems I can't attach a zip file to a PM, if you could PM your email address to me, I'll send it that way.

As stated, I haven't tested all of these for compatibility with 1.2.5 as yet, however, the "Homepage Package" will need to be updated to apply a fix to display the correct price when a product is on special offer. Apart from this (and the above stated "Featured/Specials"), everything else should be compatible since they are all "independent" packages.

Thanks fido - please check your PM.
Out of interest, I seemed to be experiencing quite long delays getting to your site at the time (a problem somewhere in the cloud I guess), perhaps that caused some issues?
Regards
Mark

I host my own site from home, and I've only got a 128k upload speed. So that's probably part of the "problem in the cloud" anyway

Hello there!
I am a first time user of Opencart (but been coding for over 9 years,
http://www.aspinvision.com).
I downloaded the "Featured Products/Special Offers" mod last night and gave it a try with v1.2.5.
I followed your instructions down to the word, had no problem with the instructions. I then went to the admin section to configure a product and got an error... something to do with a missing module? (some error about "module/image" or something)
I am pretty sure i did everything per the instructions. Any idea how to make this work with v1.2.5?

Hi maddog986,
Sorry, I didn't reply sooner. The "Featured/Specials" mod has not been updated for use with OpenCart version 1.2.5 and (in it's current form) is only compatible with versions 1.2.3 and 1.2.4.

Are you going to support 1.2.5 soon?
I could really use this feature and just don't know enough of opencart/php to get it fixed.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Administration->catalog->products
Then edit the product you wish to have on special offer.
Then select the discount tab.
Then click on the button add special price. You will have to enter the new price and the date start and date end range.
Click on the save button.
This will then place that product on special offer for that period.
Phil.
