I'm using OpenCart 1.4.9.2.

I need my Free Shipping module to be adjusted so it would take in account products that are on Special.

I'm offering Free Shipping above 35.00 but if a product would be on Special form 37.50 for 32.50 a customer would have to pay 7.00 for shipping making the product more expensive then when on regular price.

As a store operator, of course you have the right to do as you wish, but I believe that the normal behaviour of OpenCart is appropriate for a business. Please ponder these questions as you consider what you want to do.

When you make a special price, why are you doing it? Are you doing it because you want to give away money? Or, are you trying to move a slow moving product? Or, did you get a good price on this item from your supplier and you want to share those savings with your customers?

Now, think of the reasons you offer free shipping and the reason you set the floor at 35.00. I assume that you calculated that with 35.00 sales you would have enough profit to pay the 7.00 shipping charge out of your own pocket. If you reduce the price of an item temporarily by 5.00, will the 30.00 you receive still leave you with enough profit to pay 7.00 for shipping out of your own pocket? If so, then why didn't you set the free shipping charge floor at 30.00 from the beginning?

Judging from my own shopping experiences in just such a situation, I find that if I am close to the free shipping floor I will shop around the store for some small item to top up my shopping cart in order to get free shipping.

It's just my opinion, of course, but I think you are better off pushing your other effort -- to develop an extension that puts a banner in the shopping cart that says, "You need only x.xx more to qualify for free shipping!"

Please use proper English at all times, so that all members may understand you.

Thank you for you reply.

It made me think again and I will continue like you say.

If a customer wants the bargain they have to shop more ;D

I think that is a very practical way of looking at it.

Just as a friendly note, at a price of $70 you're not going to find many buyers, especially since it's not that complex of a module. I would recommend pricing it more in line with other side modules ($15 - $30).

Thanks for your suggestion.

We discussed with our board members and reduced the price to see how its going for the next few days.
Based on this, we will fix this product cost permanently.

Currently you can purchase this module with the cost of 40$ in our Store.

Mani
