I have to reinstall, any tips

Due to my CHMOD problem I am going to delete my sql DB and php tpl files from my server and start all over again.... Only a few hours work , now that I kind of know what I am doing.

Any tips on saving what I have already done. But the end result must be a system allowing me to upload viewable images with their proper chmod settings..
