***EDIT Much worse than I originally thought, please see the fourth post for full details.***

Using 1.4.9.4 here. As of last night, I've run into an odd problem. Previously, I've been able to see and select images normally using the Image Manager in the admin area to select images for flash banners or for product images. However now, the Image Manager window opens, and I can see and select the folders as normal, but in the right hand pane, no images are presented. As such, I can't select anything.

I know the files aren't missing, the images are there when I look via FTP and all the previously chosen ones for banners and products work just fine. I've also checked the folder permissions for the image folders, and they're all fine. I've also tried in all three major browsers across three computers, and had a friend try as well, with the same results.

Help!

Have you recently deleted the image cache?

Nope. Didn't change or delete anything before this happened.

Actually, it looks like there was a thread for this in Bug Reports (I searched and looked there, but apparantly I managed to overlook it regardless, sorry). Can this be merged into that please?

Fixed - it's the upload function in Image Manager corrupting PNG files. Any folder with a corrupted PNG file from this will fail to show any images at all. Once the corrupted files are deleted it works again.

OK, the entire bug support forum is locked. So I can't go back to Image manager thread there. This problem is much worse than I originally saw.

Version is still 1.4.9.4. All permissions are set correctly (775, highest the host will go, only thing this denies is Write access to the public) on all Image folders.

I cannot upload images and use them at ALL. Anytime I do, the Image Manager refuses to see the contents of the folder they are in - the images are still there, but it will simply show nothing for that folder. It doesn't matter if the images are JPG, TIF, or PNG. It doesn't matter if I upload the images via Image Manager, FTP, or web control panel. It doesn't matter if I process the images through Photoshop or PSP7. No matter what I do, uploading any image results in complete failure of the image manager to show any images at all in any folder I add images to. Deleting the new images makes Image Manager work normally again. The only non-demo images that work were all ones I uploaded a few weeks ago, and those work regardless of format.

Obviously, this is a massive problem, since there isn't any way to select images for products or any add-on modules EXCEPt to use Image manager.

So Smithy what was the solution, last night I changed the .
.htaccess.txt file to
.htaccess
Then tried to get the FB like thing to work, it did not, so I put everything back as it was. It all worked before I went to bed. But today in the back end I cannot add images. I have set the folder to 755 and the file to 644, it is there but only partly visible. Help please, all the images that where already there are working fine

does smithy or sidecutter want to give all us struggling with the same problem, a clue on how to fix it??????

ok, i got image manager to work (i have 1.4.9.4) . by deleting the most recent png file, which appears to have broken it easily.. god.. anyways, but now i have "yet another" image problem! lol,

once i add an image to my product, and i press save, i go to the store front to see if the image has changed, and the image doesnt appear in my store on the main store front page! i'm bloody frustrated here
