Administration > Configuration > settings > Local > Order Status

Please can someone explain 'Order Status' to me? I am not sure what it should be set to.

It is set to the value you want orders to be in after a customer places it.

1. A customer places an order
2. The default status for the order is set to "Pending"
3. When you begin working on the order, you change it to "Processing"
4. When you finally ship it, you change it to "Shipped"
5. When you get delivery confirmation, you could change to "Completed" , or just leave as shipped

Or you could have a digital downloads page and set the default order status to Processing right away
Or you could have a manual payment module so you'd set the default to "Paid unconfirmed"

Paypal handles the final order status via it's language file, dependent on the IPN/PDT handshakes, so it will override this setting for its own purposes.

Hey Q - I have the order status set to "Complete" and but orders are still showing up as "Pending" after the user processes via PayPal.  I also have paypal to do "instant" purchase versus "authorization".  Any ideas?

I'm using the new paypal module with OC 0.7.9 RC5.

this is a design issue. paypal is actually setup to override that value with its own code. but I guess it should really use the proper setting
