See the FAQ for adding new currencies: http://forum.opencart.com/index.php/board,29.0.html
To remove the currency selector, Goto Admin->Extensions->Module and find "Catalog Category" in the list.
Click the "wrench" (spanner) icon and set to disabled

Then you have OpenCart v0.7.8 which has a big menu bug.
You need to upgrade or fresh install the latest version of 0.7.9
