I would be grateful if somebody would take me by the hand a lead me here. I have OC v1.4.9.1 at http://shop.studio433.co.uk and want to replace flat rate shipping with Royal Mail based on weight so that I can (in particular) mail abroad.
I have "installed" the module but am unsure where to go next - as it stands it doesn't seem to do anything and certainly doesn't appear at checkout. Looking through Forum Posts I see reference to it not yet being completely developed, the need for manual entry of shipping fees, the need to define Geozones and a download for a module (which actually presents a damaged file when you download it).
Some of these forum entries I am reading are quite old and may be irrelevant now. I was wondering if somebody could lay out the jigsaw pieces in a sensible order for me, or maybe direct me to a page I haven't discovered explaining how to commission the module.
Thanks in advance.
John
OK, I have finally rumbled this one. The stony silence of replies confirms that normally this module normal works "straight out of the box" and problems like mine are not normally experienced.
In case anybody else gets stuck, the answer for me revolved around the light weight of many of the products I sell (photographs) and I had changed the default weight in OC from kilograms to grams, because OC will not accept a long string like 0.00494 for one photograph in kg.
The file catalog/model/shipping/royal_mail.php is hard-coded in kilograms and OC does not re-calculate these figures to make them grams. So to use grams it is necessary to go through all relevant entries and multiply each weight per price by 1000.
The shipping options did not show at checkout because the weights were out of range.
Sorted!
