Hi. I've seen many posts regarding coupons but none probably as simple as my question, so apologies if this is a silly question. I'd like to offer free shipping to customers who put in a particular coupon code.
I've never used the "coupon" facility before.
I've set up a coupon code so that when customers enter the code, they're supposed to get free shipping.
I've done this by adding a coupon name and ticked "Free Shipping" in the coupon facility.
Unfortunately, the coupon doesn't seem to be showing either before or after checkout.
I have it enabled, but I'm confused as to why there is no option showing for any coupon on the site.
What am I missing?

Hi FBM,
Yes, I don't see a place on the checkout process to enter the coupon code.
A far as I knew, there would be a space for entering a coupon code in the checkout process after I had enabled "coupon" and free shipping in the coupon section.
This is my first time using it but my presumption was that there would be something showing for a coupon option.

Hi Kev,
Can you confirm a couple more things.
1. What version of open cart your using?
2. are you using a custom template?
If you are usign a custom template and you have not disabled teh coupon code maybe the custom tempalte had it removed in the source code of the template files. Try using the default template and test it with that to eliminate this possibility.
On the flip side do you have a link i can look at for you?

I've just done some tests on my test store and the coupon code for me in the default template appears on step 2 of the checkout process at the top. double check admin > extensions > order totals
Make sure coupon is enabled and it has a sort order, click edit next ot coupon to see this.
I know this has already been suggested but worht double checking. Also confirm your version number im running 1.4.9.1 and the default template and all works for me out of the box. The other suggestion i would make is to try a fresh install of the latest version in a test area on your server and just check with the default tempalte file with no amendments if its there or not. That should help eliminate other factors which could be confliciting in one way or another.

2. I'm relatively sure it's a standard template.
I have rechecked admin>extensions>order totals and the coupon option is definitely enabled. It's number 4 in the sort order. I moved it to number 1, but it hasn't brought in forward any in the checkout process.
I'm kinda stuck on doing a fresh install as I don't have access to the server. I just have access for the admin for the site. It's typical that I have problems when he's on the other side on the world enjoying himself. Lol.

It is likely that you have a theme-to-version mismatch
For example:
If you have version 1.4.6 the coupon box was on the cart page
If you have version 1.4.7 the coupon box was moved to the payment page
If you have a theme for 1.4.7 running on 1.4.6, it is possible that the mismatch is causing it to not show on either page. Switch to default theme and run through checkout, starting from the basket page

It's possible that what you're saying is correct. Our version of OpenCart was updated recently enough so perhaps there is a mis-match.
How do I change the theme? I don't see an option for theme. Do I need my web designer to do that?

I am having the same problem. There is nowhere to apply a discount coupon on the check-out page. There IS a form to do this in the shopping cart, but the check-out links seem to be more prominent for a visitor to click when checking-out.
I looked into the Layouts to see if I can change the route from there. Changed the route on the check-out from /checkout to /cart, but nothing's changed... :-(
