Force a Maximum quantity of an item.

As usual, despite searching through the posts I am sure this will have been answered before but here goes:

My new site is for downloads only. I can't see a time when a buyer would order more than 1 of a download but I want to take away the opportunity to do so.

I can see in admin the option to force a minimum quantity of any item, however, is there a way to force a MAXIMUM quantity of any product to be 1. Is this possible or am I indeed missing something obvious.

You can set the quantity to 1 and Subtract Stock to "No". This way your customer can only order 1 and you will never run out of stock. And if you don't want your customer to download the purchased product multiple time, just set the "Total Downloads Allowed" to 1.

I did think about doing this but decided that there must be a better as with this solution the buyer does not know until the checkout...... thanks anyway.
