Hello,
I recently downloaded OpenCart 4.1.0.3 and would like to transfer an existing Weebly site to OpenCart. I understand that this will be time consuming as Weebly doesn't allow any automatic data transfer. That's fine with me, at least at the moment... I am very new to this, even though I have maintained my website for over a decade - I have only built websites with drag n drop builders. I know a little html and other computer things that I've picked up along the years, but I really am a complete novice. My degree is in biochemistry, not computers...
So, after I downloaded OpenCart, I was able to set up a few of the configurations in the admin backend side, like name, address, taxes etc. However, I have not set any template or theme. I don't know what php version? I'm currently working on an older laptop (not apple) using mozilla firefox version 140 as my browser. I don't have my NordVPN loaded on this computer, and I don't have any ad-blockers that I'm aware of on this computer (could be something I'm not aware of...). I am unfamiliar with clourfare, so I'm most likely not using it?
I tried to add square payment processing extension, but was unable to get it to load correctly. The first version I attempted did not specifically state that it was compatible with 4.1.0.3, so I uninstalled and found another that did. I could not get either of them to work, and I have a support ticket in for assistance. With the long weekend, I figured it would be a few days.
So, I was moving on to creating categories and wanted to start adding products. I was able to update the "About Us" page, and wanted to add another page with a more detailed bio. However, it's not letting me add a page and when I try to save, it gives me a "warning: please check the form carefully for errors". I've attempted to close everything out, and log in again, and I've tried to do a test page with very minimal text. None of these got me any closer. So, I'm now thinking that there may be something off with the installation or permissions? As I was looking at some of the conversations on here, someone stated (in June) that the last stable version of OpenCart was a while back (I'll have to look and see which version was shared). Is that what could be causing these issues?
Can anyone here assist me with this? Point me in the right direction?
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

But the 3.0.4.1 is pretty clean and should work pretty much right away.
I:nstall that one and then poke around to get familiar with opencart. Once you have poked around a bit, come back and ask the questions being pretty specific. i.e.
I am using Opencart 3.0.4.1 with the default theme. Zero extensions installed (or x, y and Z installed).
I go here, try to enter a new page and I get an error saying "this is the error".
You don't need html with opencart but it might help if you are using a HTML module for page display but it isn't really needed.
Good luck and keep with it and make sure you ask specific questions so we can answer you faster/more complte.

JNeuhoff wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 1:14 amThe 3.0.x.x branch has now been updated, with added PHP 8.4 support, and a newer version of the cardinity payment method. Older PHP versions, like 7.x and 8.0, aren't supported anymore, one of PHP 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, or 8.4 is now required. We also changed the OpenCart version number to 3.0.5.0, to be used for the upcoming release.

if you have a good hand on docker and know how to work with it you can quickly test this just make sure you use the new version of Opencart.
