When I try to install VQMOD following the procedure below the upload reports "invalid file type"

First - OC4 in any version is not recommended for production sites.
3.0.4.0 is the stable recommendation and supports php8. You can find it here > https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... ad/history

Second - Contact the extension developer which you should find if you unzip the folder and look for the email address inside the xml file or maybe readme file - or use the SUPPORT button on the extension page.

Third - The page is not that clear to me either, but it might just be a vQmod manager and you still need to install vQmod, but best check with the developer

From the Marketplace:
Extension was developed with plug and play in mind. It does not require you to download VQMod, upload and install it manually. All this can be done inside Module settings using admin interface.
Second: this is NOT VQmod itself, "only" the manager for it (just to clarify that here).
