I've just migrated my working website to another server (Hostinger) but I am now getting a FORBIDDEN messages on certain parts of the admin section. The website appears to work and I can log into admin and modify products etc but on certain parts of the admin section, for example if I try to take the website out of Maintenance mode, I get a FORBIDDEN message.

So far I have checked permissions (755 and 644), bypassed htaccess (just in case), re-uploaded a working backup from previous host, imported the database again, checked config files, checked error logs but so far no luck.

I have trawled the forums but I cannot find anything similar occuring so hence a new post

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thank you

Check if your host is using ModSecurity of something similar.

The hosting provider has MOD on the server and has given me the following code to add to htaccess to disable it:

SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off

which I have done but I still get the FORBIDDEN error

I've also checked and they also they support FollowSymlinks - The shop is working with SEO as I can view it when logged into admin

If you get stuck you could put a clean version of Opencart in a sub folder and use it to get access to the main site and debug it. If you get it working ok you could always switch admin folders and adjust the admin/config.php file.

Thank you.

I'll give that a go thank you. I had wondered if it could be the database so I'm going to create a 2nd database and import an older backup, connect to that and see what results I get.

I find the whole thing rather weird. From a working site to only certain parts of the admin section not working. I can alter categories and products but I can't save settings from the inbuilt html module or save anything in the settings section so I'm currently locked in maintenance mode.

Well I can confirm it doesn't appear to be the database - same FORBIDDEN message with older backup imported. Might try a completely blank database from a fresh install next.

If you are still getting HTTP 403 Forbidden errors you need to contact your host. OpenCart doesn't generate them.

If you are getting some other Forbidden message, you would be best to post more details such as the exact URL and what form the message takes.

Well I can confirm the FORBIDDEN message I am receiving is caused by something within the OC_Settings table within the database, so partly solved. So it looks like I need to work through my settings to restore the shop. Thank you for any suggestions.

Nothing definite. Overclcocked had a way of embedding Youtube videos in products and categories and the original listings work fine but if you make an edit and try to save one with a video you get FORBIDDEN unless you remove the video section code.

I think I also had to delete an entry in the settings section but I cannot remember exactly which one

I've also had one listing where I had to reduce the amount of content in the meta description entry before I could save the edit.

It is something I am learning to work around but at least the shop is working 99% now and I haven't got to start from scratch.

I've been looking at newer versions of Opencart incase I had to start from scratch and they are not a patch for functionality that the Overclocked versions has to offer, it was a pity that VillageFrance its developer was not able to continue development
