[SOLVED] Theme editor reverting files - caused by installatron backup process

I've come across multiple times where I've modified a file, like the footer, only to come back in a few days and find the modification not there. Anyone else experience this? And yes, please spare me the "4.x is not ready for commercial use yet" posts. Just wondering if i'm not alone and should avoid using the theme editor.

That's strange - from what I know, Theme Editor changes are stored directly in the database, and the changes are pulled from the database to be displayed on your frontend. When you say "... find the modification not there", are the changes still there under "Theme History" at Design » Theme Editor but the changes at the frontend are gone or do you mean the changes under "Theme History" are gone entirely?

i'm testing to see if the cpanel Installatron backup was restoring files by disabling it, so far no changes so that may have been the culprit.

This does sound like a likely cause since the changes made in Theme Editor is stored directly in your database. Unlikely that the changes done will just disappear magically. Something must be updating your database or someone is deleting changes made via the Theme Editor.

CONFIRMED, it was the installatron backup process.
