I know how to modify the homepage in my old version of OC (v1.5.6) but don't see a way to manage the homepage from my new admin panel.
I've read the documentation for V4.0.2.3 but it's sparse and has not been helpful.
I'd like to do one of the following...
1) Add a homepage with store information, or
2) delete the homepage and replace it with one page showcasing the 25 or so items in my store.
Any and all help is appreciated!
Thank you,
Mark
For 1, You could probably use the "HTML Content" module at Extensions » Extensions » Modules to do a write-up for your store information, and then assign the module to the homepage layout at Design » Layouts.CzechOne wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 9:42 pmI've upgraded my Opencart store to version 4.0.2.3 and am experiencing difficulty with its homepage, which is currently blank at the moment.

For 2, you can use the "Featured" module, again at Extensions » Extensions » Modules, and assign the products you wish to feature in your home page. Then, once again, assign the module to your homepage layout at Design » Layouts.

I've successfully added text to my homepage, and will experiment with changing my products page to my homepage when I have more time to do that, since it appears to be a bit more labor intensive.
Right now I need to get the new website functional before PayPal sunsets their payment gateway for Opencart v1.5.6 (within the next two to three weeks).
I only need to add a bit more text to another category and install an SSL certificate. The website should be ready to go live at that point.
I've created the html content for the new category. Where I'm stuck is adding it to the layout.
In v.1.5.6 the path is catalog/category/category title/html content.
In v4.0.2.3 I have created a new route in Design/Layouts in which to place the html content.
I thought the route would provide an autofill choice but it does not, and I'm unsure how to provide the correct route.
Anyway, for Categories, you should probably use the "Description" field instead, which should be the same in OpenCart 1.5.x, at Catalog » Categories. Click "edit" for the category that you want to add the content to, and add it in the "Description" field.

I've now looked at the various and numerous problems associated with it and feel I should stop where I'm at and focus on an immediate solution to keep my store operational.
At this time it's not cost effective for me to pay again to install and transfer my data to v3, so I'm mulling over some options.
Right now I see three things I might do to keep my store operating without having to make individual invoices for every order I receive.
1) Install a different payment gateway (Square?) in my current store before PayPal sunsets their software that works with v1.5.6. Then go live with an updated version later.
2) Install 3.0.4.0 myself and begin rebuilding my store. This does not seem like an optimum solution since I'm under a timeline to keep the store fully operational. I'm a fabricator, and not a website builder, so the learning curve for me to transfer all data would be steep and time consuming.
3) Upgrade 4.0.2.3 to 4.1 when it's released, and going live when v4.1 is proven to be reliable. But maybe there might be inherent problems when updating???
Any other options available that I may not be considering?
I was contacted by a PayPal representative back in July to be informed about the upcoming sunset of this payment version. I was told there would be no versions of any PayPal payment gateway available for Opencart v.1.5.6 after the sunset.
I just contacted Square to learn whether their gateway version for OC 1.5.6 is still active. If it is, I may just install it as a stopgap until I can get a newer version of Opencart working correctly.

I've not heard anything about PayPal Payments Standard being removed.
Sizing>Measuring Item 1
Sizing>Measuring Item 2
etc.
Should be fine to do this I think.
