Thank you, very helpful.

It does say, hence the reason I asked the question

"General support for technical problems with OpenCart 3.0"

Which i do believe is a techincal question, please correct me if I am wrong.

Well to break it down a bit more. ...
1. Your Exact OpenCart Version (e.g. 1.5.6.4, 2.3.0.2, 3.0.6.0, etc.)
2. Used Template/Theme "So Ladz themplate" <- you provided
3. (Additional) Installed Extension(s)
4. (Additional) Installed Translation(s)
5. Used php Version
6. Used Browser and Version (and if used, installed extensions like Ads-Blocker, etc.)
Also: If your post is related to a template issue, please also post a link to your website or the webpage where the problem is happening.

Please provide the rest.
Thanks!
Mike

Just to make that a little clearer.
There are people willing to help for free to assist people that goes beyond this forum's support.
Your question does fall outside the scope of this forum support. Whilst it could be argued that you are only asking for what file, it could also be argued that OC does not offer that as an option so there is no technical problem. The forum rules as has been stated above go much further than whether your question falls within the scope or not and Paul was actually asking for your OC version (in all four digits) and link to your site, as really these are required for your question. Mike (@Cue4cheap) above has kindly assisted you with the rules above.

Top menu is probably filed under common/menu in each of the MVCL structure
Categories is probably filed under product/category in most of the MVCL structure with the controller in catalog folder

You were not rude at all and you are new, so please accept this as help for the future to get the best out of the forum and not as criticism. It might be helpful to you to be aware there is no "duty" to answer anything, even if it falls in the scope of support. We are not associated with Opencart and the forum is not a call center or a personal help center. We are just here to help if we can and we want to. Each person has their own reasons for being here, what they choose to answer, how and why.

Not sure if the custom theme affects anything but you can probably edit the file "menu.php" at "catalog/controller/common", there should be a line like below:

Code: Select all

$children = $this->model_catalog_category->getCategories($category['category_id']);
Just manipulate the for-loop below it to stop at a certain count or you can do an array_slice on $children.

While I understand the need for rules and guidelines, I imagine that as a business reliant on attracting and retaining forum users, a more supportive approach might be more beneficial. The original post may not have followed the forum rules to the letter, but wouldn’t it be better to offer assistance and a helping hand to very new forum users, as others have done above, rather than responding so brashly? Just my opinion, of course, but the response made me pause and wonder who had upset you today.!!
