I believe it is now time to upgrade my 2.0.3.2 store.

But most of my paid extensions have been updated to 3.0.3.8 only.

I've always believed to use a version that my store requires.
I saw the changelog with github but I just want to know if there are noticeable changes between 3.0.3.8 and 3.0.3.9 in terms of bugs and production quality.

Tried installing 1 or 2 extensions that are only 3.0.3.8 and aren't working with 3.0.3.9.
So I have 2 options, either find another extension that is 3.0.3.9 compatible or use 3.0.3.8 instead.

Lastly, in about a year ago, I launched two static 3.0.3.8 websites using journal and a couple of extensions. And didn't get any problems at all.
Which begs the question that why am I having a hard time with 3.0.3.9

Two other options is to either contact the extension developer of the extension you are currently using or to create a new service request in the Commercial Support section of the forum to investigate the reported issue as a custom job. Lastly, you could also try with: https://www.github.com/opencart/opencart-3 (3.2) to see if it solves the issue.

You can see the differences at the links below. There are a lot of PHP 8+ compatibility fixes. If you are not upgrading to PHP 8+, then consider why you need to upgrade to only 3.0.3.8. You might want to wait for the next 3.0.x.x release as this will have more PHP compatibility, bug and security fixes.

Most OpenCart extensions written for 3.0.3.8 will also work for 3.0.3.9 or 3.0.4.0.

What particular extensions are causing problems?

Export/Import Tool * SpamBot Buster * Unused Images Manager * Instant Option Price Calculator * Number Option * Google Tag Manager * Survey Plus * OpenTwig

They should only require very small adjustments, so you could ask the extension developers or pay a developer from the Commercial Support Forum.
