Not sure if you can do it

But it should be possible - the difference between guest and registration is the password you need in such a case to be added finally.
Not that I'm aware ..
Basically I do not see the sense behind this question .. maybe you elaborate it?

I believe some of the one page checkouts do that because it's a great feature. 1/ If the switching the guest to register option wouldn't auto capture things at the end, I was thinking just call the registration function, or submit to the registration table at the end with the already inputted information. I just wanted to make sure that the payment processing wouldn't prevent this, or some security mechanism built in I'm unaware of wouldn't interfere.
2/ I was thinking to automatically generate a password and send it to the customer to use and they can change it later.
--As I'm thinking of this, a thought just occurred maybe even in the success email as well, if the person didn't register, send them a link, with their info built into the url parameters to automatically register if they want with one click (auto generate their password). Thoughts?
@JNeuhoff @paul, thanks for that.

You are right, whenever I buy something online (and that's only a few rare times a year), either I know what I will buy more in future I will register myself from the beginning, or I know that I will buy only once .. then I proceed as guest.Joe1234 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 1:07 am@osworx You've never said to yourself at checkout, "I'm not wasting my time making another damn account at another store." And proceeded to enter all the information you would have anyway to buy what you're buying. And then at the end said to yourself, "Damn, I'm probably going to come back and buy something here again at some point, I should have just made the account."? I have, I'm sure others have, so it's just a....I think simple....thing that I thought of to add at the end to capture the info.

@JNeuhoff @paul, thanks for that.
Never thought to register me full after I have bought something.
That's why I was curious about your reason to ask.
And you are right, it's a good point for a - possible - better UX.
JNeuhoff's solution seems to me the best option to add such a function to any store .. if wanted.
And your second point (after success email or even with it) to offer an option to register easely via link is a good idea.
Maybe JNeuhoff will take it and add it to his extension?
Otherwise the whole thing could be created new ..
