You pay lots of money for a company to upgrade it for you to the latest version, and then still with rics.
Therefore you need to see what is important for your webshop.
Myself i have installed 4.0.2.3 for now With Journal thema. And it works fine for now.
Newcomer to Opencart community. Using OC4.0.2.3
In my opinion, 3.0.3.9 will be a solid version for many years to come.thehazzard wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 3:23 pmThe problem later on wheb you use 3.0.3.9 will be like upgrading to OC4 versions. For a lot of people this can be a big problem and then what?

Version numbers are not like a decimal where you can leave off the zeros, you should always quote all four digits to avoid confusion.straightlight wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 4:44 amhttps://github.com/opencart/opencart-3/ ... dex.php#L3

When leaving off zeroes leads to confusion, then I can't imagine when there's only one digit provided by other users.paulfeakins wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 7:31 pmVersion numbers are not like a decimal where you can leave off the zeros, you should always quote all four digits to avoid confusion.straightlight wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 4:44 amhttps://github.com/opencart/opencart-3/ ... dex.php#L3

1. Check your preferred Theme
-- Only some theme that has OC 3 compatibility 2 most notable one are:
-- Journal theme and So Emarket
2. Extensions
-- Yes, too little developer support for OC 4: since only experienced developer would be able to develop extension under OC 4.
-- Search your preferred partner for relevant extensions on OC 4
-- Eg: checkout extensions, payment gateways, etc.
-- I my self gradually migrating my 90s OpenCart 3.x extensions into OC 4 compatible: https://hpwebdesign.io/products?ff4=14
The rest of the thing is relatively the same.
I've been assisting clients to launch several websites on OC 4, migrating from OC 3.x to OC 4, and develop extension for OC 4.
I'm proud that OpenCart can go this far.
I like the Ajax based save on admin setting: save any setting without refresh.
And PHP 8.x compatibility
We: developer will eventually create OC 4 extensions just like we did on OC 3.x.
So: don't worry too much about it.
** In case anyone need professional service for OC 4:

Bad advice. The Journal framework is one of the worst 3rd party OpenCart extensions, it will clash with many other extensions and doesn't follow OpenCart standards. The So Emarket is quite blown up and slow, with over 60 css files and over 30 js files for a simple product page. These are examples on how not to do a good looking high performance and standard-compliant themes.hpwebdesign wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 12:16 pmFor anyone that wanna use OC 4 here is the simple guide lines:
