I get that error when trying to connect with a sandbox account. However, if I refresh the page I find it is actually connected. I also find it only happens if I select United Kingdom instead in United States.

NOot for me, I tried refreshing and still not connected. I tried with fresh version of 3.0.x.x and 3.0.3.9 both with the same issue when trying to connect a PayPal account

I tested 3.0.x.x and 3.0.3.9 on three different hosts and I cannot get the PayPal Module corrected.
Is there any workaround for this issue? I never had this problem with OC 3.0.3.8

This seemed to solve the issue on OpenCart 3.0.x.x, I downloaded the latest Paypal build from here:
https://github.com/Dreamvention/paypal
Installed on clean OPenCart 3.0.x.x installation and manage to connect PayPal live and sandbox accounts wihtout any issues at all.

Glad to hear you managed to resolve it. We have now integrated the latest PayPal from Dreamvention (
https://github.com/Dreamvention/paypal/tree/3.x.x) into the
OC 3.0.x.x maintenance branch.

I did file an issue on the github page but it was dismissed as hosting enviroment issue.

I've given up on the free PayPal extension, it seems to be extememly problematic, at least with OC 3.0.x.x anyway .... Just very flakey. I bought this extension and it works perfectly:

Have to say, using the latest 3.0.x.x (pre 3.0.4.0) release with the original installed PayPal extension - it failed (test and live mode) badly!
After updating the PayPal extension to 3.0.0 (released 24th of February 2024) the connection in live mode worked - but got also that nerving Authentication error!
Refreshed the extension and all settings were there - and it worked.
So, as it seems, sometimes it works, sometimes not.
The culprits in general with that extension are:
1. third party developer (not made by OpenCart itself)
2. not answering issues at GitHub in their repo
3. OpenCart support pointed a few days to a not existed FAQ-Page (about this error)
https://github.com/Dreamvention/paypal/ ... FAQ/FAQ.md
4. the tipps now on this restored FAQ-page are partly useless (e.g. had no enabled .htaccess and what for should I switch the browser .. we're not in the 2000er years !)
5. why does the sandbox still not work (why have I to use only the live mode .. ? ?)
All in one a frustrating situation!
p.s. I connected that thing from Austria (were it worked first not and then okay).
