I have been using version 2 and now I would like to upgrade to a later version thats appreciated by its stability, from the later version of 3 or from v4

With it, I would be glad to integrate drop shipping possibilities

Would be glad to have your recommendations

Most likely this one:
define('VERSION', '3.2.0.0');
https://github.com/opencart/opencart-3

Thank you very much both of you.
It means that there are two development paths, 3.xx and 4.xx, right?

If I may ask,
Why 3.xx path is preferred to 4.xx path?
Would there be any issue if one day one moves from 3.xx to 4.xx ?

IMO between 3.x and 4.x - 3.x is the most stable, well supported, and complete cart system of the OC versions
4.x doesn't have all the add-in included, doesn't have OCMod (requires events but events are not as simple as OCMod), not all developers are porting things over to 4.x, and it is still in development to become a stable version.

@IP_CAM: are the files from the above link for 3.0.3.8 ?
Where do I define this ('VERSION', '3.2.0.0');

The opencart-3 repository is maintained by TheCartpenter, and he hasn't yet created a tag release. Both the 3.0.x.x branch and the opencart-3 repository offer the same set of features, see this forum post which explains their differences.

Sorry guys, am a bit lost. Can you locate me the exact URL that matches the 3.2.0.0?

@IP_CAM: do you mean the one at this link https://github.com/opencart/opencart-3 is the same as 3.2.0.0?
Is this Gitub maintained by individual or by OC team? Am concerned about the continuity of future upgrade

Ok thanks, I got to go and download 3.0.3.9 !

If I may ask one more thing, is it possible to import customer and product information from the old 2.1.0.2 to 3.0.3.9 ?

You could try the free Export/Import tool for this. See also our FAQ.

JNeuhoff: I should install the above inport/export tool on both 2.1.0.2 (to export) and 3.0.3.9 (to later import), right?

Thanks JNeuhoff. I tried to install the tool, the one which is compatible to 2.1.0.2 (opencart-2-x-export-import-multilingual-3-22.ocmod) but the Extension upload failed to upload the zip file, saying "FTP needs to be enabled in the settings". From which setting is that?
