Journal Theme

Hi Guys,

First off, any help or information on this issue is greatly appreciated and thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond, it is very much appreciated.

I am working on an opencart store and I am listing Smart TVs. These TVs have Energy Ratings and Product Information leaflets as part of the product listing and I save them as PDFs in media manager, so when someone clicks on them in a live listing, the PDF pops up.

So what Ive done is gone into the media manager to check the file name and make sure it matches the TV Code and all seems good.
When I hover my mouse over the "energy label" in the live product listing, I see in the bottom corner of my screen that the last part of the PDF file name has dissappeared ....

So when I hover over the energy label I should get the full file name: label-UE65CU7100K.pdf but i only get label-.pdf, so the last part/tv code UE65CU7100K is missing and I cannot figure out why .........

Please see the image below for PDF info including the name/link/path and the bottom part of the image that shows the last part of the file name missing (when i hover over the energy label in the live listing.



As I said, any help/info is greatly appreciated and I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I just cannot figure out why, especially after doing numerous searches online over the last few days, I have still not found the solution.

What is the journal theme version you are using?

Also did install or made any further changes since this issue start happening ? Have you tried opening the direct url into the browser to see if the pdf is loading? Is there any code or extension which is renaming the file? is it possible that you rename the file as xyz.pdf and then the system also reads the file with extension like xyz.pdf.pdf

Hi,

- I am using Journal 3.1.8.
- I have not installed any extension or new code since I startd working on this website last week.
- When i type in the full path to the PDF into the browser I get the error "The page you requested cannot be found"
- The PDF has to have the code of the TV for it to appear for that TVs listing, so I cannot change it to something else.

i would say re-upload the file as the URL is pointing to label-.pdf and see if it renames its self again, if it does it will be a MOD or the theme causing the issue.

when you say it should be as below: but your is: but this works

can you place your file name which is on your server as well as the full url you trying to access.
There somewhere must be mismatch.

Thanks for the link, interesting reading. Unfortunately this is the theme the business has been using from the beginning so there is no other choice at this stage, have to deal with it and the hassle it brings, I would have no issue paying for expert help to get this issue resolved.

You could pay a developer such as ourselves or post a job in the Commercial Support Forum.

This is the theme loved by most storeowner and the same theme is most hated theme among some users here in the forum. If you need paid help you can created a post here viewforum.php?f=88 or send me a direct email or pm via my profile.

Please see above i do beleive its just your URL thats wrong. on other products its also info-XXXXXXX.pdf not label-XXXXXX.pdf

Yeah I would only be using the label-UE65CU7100K.pdf filename, the info filename is for product description pdfs. I am having an issue with both, even though they are named and saved correctly. For some reason the link back to them from the live product listing does not include the 2nd half of the PDF name even though it is named and saved in media manager correctly.

No trouble, i do think its your URLS that are incorrect, within the product listing as the PDF's are there and under the correct names as you say.

this works and shows the correct rating

and this shows the correct Product Information Sheet i would check in the product listing and check the listing urls are correct as i imagine you have to add them manually when adding / updating a product.

Look at this url which is not loading.
Go into the folder image/energy-docs/information/ and make sure this file do exist there label-UE65CU7100K.pdf

And take a closer look at this. which is loading

The weird thing is there is a listing for a 55" TV, setup the very same way as all the others (that dont work) and the energy labels and product infornation leaflet PDFs pop up when you click on them, but all the others dont pop up when clicked on. But the website url should be as they are in the electrical part of the business.

Its a werid one as I said, the 55" works perfect but the others dont, even though setup the very same way. The 65" that doesnt work, did work in the beginning when I set it up, then a few days later it didnt, even though i did nothing to it and never changed it. Cant get my head around it.

regardless of the URL telfords.ie and telfordselectric.ie ending the URL's with

/image/energy-docs/labels/label-UE65CU7100K.pdf
loads fine
/image/energy-docs/information/info-UE65CU7100K.pdf
loads fine

so at least you know the files are there, the Image and Hyper links are not seeing them as you say or removing the UE65CU7100K parts.
do you add the URLS to the products in the admin area for each product listed, if so can you set the link to google.co.uk or clear the field for an example? save refresh and then add the correct URLS back?

what about adding a PDF called "info-" and "label-" and see if that loads? (info one attached)
