I have tried to work with the example language pack loaded in the standard installation "(OpenCart Language Example)" and found that it has an en-gb folder, but it appears the language pack is for German. Is this supposed to be that way? Also any suggestions on instructions on how to change the example for a new language pack for version 4? Any instructions on the web appear to be for V3.

I agree with you. The official documentation is old, and adding a new language in the classic way is not possible, as with oc 3xxx. I also made an install file, in vain: it can't be installed, but if I load it once more, the oc answer is that the tab already exists, but in fact it doesn't exist.:) poltergeist :))

This is my first post - be indulgent ! ::)
I was able to install the following French language pack made for V3 to my V4.0.2.3 version
1. Follow the installation instructions : download and unpack in your OC folders
this will add the following directories (Remember you may have change the 'admin' to another name) :
  • catalog/language/fr-FR
  • admin/language/fr-FR
Here I had to copy
  • catalog/language/fr-FR/fr-FR.php to catalog/language/fr-FR/default.php
  • admin/language/fr-FR/fr-FR to admin/language/fr-FR/default.php
2. Still in the instructions setup the System -> Localisation -> Languages
here it was a little tricky they asked language code to be
fr
but in fact the code must have the same name as the directory so it should be
fr-FR
3. Now in your System -> Settings you can change the local

Good luck -HTH

Hey there,
Followed your instructions and can see the french flag for admin/catalog.
Unfortunately no change on footer (text still in english)
I glanced over your website baiescoffrets.fr and saw the footer is in french, that's what I want ;D
Any idea ?

Just addressed the issue : the language setting was fine but the OC version was incorrect.
After an upgrade to 4.0.2.3 (requiring a previous modification in upgrade.php), the language switch works like a charm!
Thanks,
Alain.
