new to opencart but not to databases and other software migrations.
I'm looking for a roadmap of steps to get from one version to another but in another domain; so this is not a straightforward update.
domain#1 is running OC 3.0.2.0 it will continue to do so for some time.
domain#2 has been setup and is running OC 4.0.2.2..
I want to take all of the data from v3.0 database and get this into v4.0 database and then copy all image files. V3 has some custom visual adjustments/screen layouts. I don't care about this, want to work with a clean copy of OC4 but with 'old/current' data in this new domain.
thanks for the assistance/guidance.
Your migration process from openCart 3.0.2 to 4.0.2.2 for a new domain involves several steps. First, make sure to back up the datebase of both domains to avoid data loss. Next, install a fresh OC 4.0.2.2 on the new domain. Then, export essential data like products, customers, and orders from the OC 3.0.2.0 database and meticulously import it into the OC 4.0.2.2 database, ensuring compatibility. Transfer image files from the old domain to the corresponding folders on the new domain.robert@ipc wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 3:36 amnew to opencart but not to databases and other software migrations.

thank you. I did these steps; found out that the database from v3 to v4 has been altered, so importing data is tricky but not impossible. however then I found all kinds of issues with the new install and so have abandoned this plan and am trying another avenue. thanks.
