Hi, I am using OC 3.0.3.8 and I just noticed that my website is failing to load some of the images, I am using a webp convertion extension for months now and everything worked fine. I also noticed an odd visitor from China which seems like a hacking attempt because of the referrer, what do you guys think?

I wouldn't say that referrer implies that.
However, all sites on the Internet are under constant attack from hackers, and mostly automated bots.
You should definitely take steps to secure it.
