Hello
I would like to use a more privacy focused analytic like Matomo with my opencart (3.0.2.0) site but the recommended (by matomo) OC extension doesn't exist anymore and i cant find any other relevant extensions.
I can setup/self host matomo in Cpanel but i don't know how to integrate it in my opencart without the help of an extension. I need some help with implementing it manually if such a thing is even possible for an amateur like me.
According to Matomo they will "issue you with a JavaScript tag. This code must appear on every page that you want Matomo to analyze. We recommend that you paste this code immediately before your closing </head> tag (or in a general header file that is included at the top of all your pages)."
I am new to website building and i am learning as i go so i don't really understand exactly what the above means. Which files do i have to edit to add the JavaScript tag? Is it all the header.php that i can find under public_html files or is it something more complicated? Also do i need to do anything else in opencart after adding the JavaScript tag?

Use the built in Google Analytics extension, but paste the Matomo code there and not the Google code.
We use Matomo on our main site www.antropy.co.uk and it's so much easier to see the info you want than Google Analytics.

Hello
Ive been trying to follow this forum exchange to add matomo to my jcart, but it seems that the built in google analytic's were removed from the 4.0.2.3 version. Are there any alternatives ways to connect it?
I am grateful for any help

Anyway, you could pay a developer to add it?

Hi,
I just saw this post and I've added the code. It partially works. I see that I get visits but there are no detailed logs. In Opencart Analytics, I get an error code: 1015 .
I cannot find any info on this. Does anyone know what this error is?
Thanks
Al

What's "Opencart Analytics"?

Precise terminology is very important. Now you've called it an "extension" but it's not an extension because it's part of OpenCart.
So you mean the input box in the OpenCart settings where you're supposed to paste in the Google Analytics code?
The problem is probably security like ModSecurity or Immunify at your web host - ask them.

Yes I mean where we paste Google Analytics code which I why I referred to it as Analytics in my post. Since that wasn't the correct term, I went into Opencart and the heading says Choose the extension type where Analytics is an option. Can I ask what that section is called then?
I'll check out the ModSecurity. Thanks for your help.

I do apologise - its location has moved and it is now indeed listed as an "extension" in: Home > Extensions > Google Analytics.procheck wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 1:58 amYes I mean where we paste Google Analytics code which I why I referred to it as Analytics in my post. Yes, ask your host, I'd bet it's this.
