paypal credit card now requires account?

I'm currently running opencart 1.4.9.2

Before (like last month) when we did checkouts to the paypal website it gave us a two options for payment, one is to pay by logging into a paypal account and the other method is to pay with a credit card without creating an account. I was doing a paypal sandbox test today and when arriving on the paypal website, it now requires either to log in to pay or to pay with a credit card AND creating a paypal account. The website payment method -> paypal account optional is turned on. Any ideas why this is happening? The paypal website says an account isn't needed to pay for items...did they just change it forcing all users to create an account if they don't have one?

It seems like everyone in that thread was using PayPal sandbox. I tested it on my live site a couple of times, and always had the same options (PayPal, or with credit card) as before. Maybe the sandbox is messed up?

hm...interesting..that seems to be where the discrepency is...sandbox seems to be missing this one emulation, pay without creating an acct...thanks for the help..it seems to be the solution.

I think paypal made a sandbox so that you could test "paypal". There is no reason for paypal to offer a simulation of not paying with their service.
