HI,
I have installed Opencart successfully.
After installation when I accessed the home page .... it didnt display images on the page....although cache folder was writable.

Also
When i clicked on the links on the page they were created without "controller="

meaning the links that i got were like /upload/account_login
in fact it has to be upload/index.php?controller=account_login

Turn off URL_aliases, or install the latest 0.7.9 RC3 release.

Your URL alias is NOT turned off
When you turn it off, the URLs look like
...... index.php?controller=product&product_id=1

Your URLs look like
..... upload/product/product_id/4
which is the way they look when URL alias is ON

Go back to admin > configuration > setting and turn off URL alias on the first tab down the bottom where it says "Use URL Alias:" tick the "no" and Save

I have already turned off.
If you want to check you can use https://www.ntid.rit.edu/prospective/te ... load/admin "admin" as username and "abhijit" as password

The problem is that you have 0.7.8 and the url alias thing doesn't work there.

Go download the latest 0.7.9 and reinstall, you will save yourself a lot of work

Oh yer, sorry. I forgot about that 0.7.8 bug fix for turning URL alias off
The fix is in here somewhere but don't do it. Use 0.7.9RC3

Well you have url alias on again.. but this time it looks ok

One problem appears to be that you are using https for the main http link. You should leave that as http and set the https in the config file where HTTPS is defined
Another problem might be that your image and image/cache folders aren't at 755

(EDIT looks like you solved it while i was writing this post)
