Hi everyone.

While looking through the server to edit some php files.... I noticed there is Fedex.php_, when renamed back to fedex.php, the module is activated, ready to install, however, this error shows when I try to enable it.

Fatal error: Call to a member function https() on a non-object in /home/thegeekz/public_html/admin/controller/shipping/fedex.php on line 63

Any ideas?

Wonder if it will be able to link to Fedex Webservices -- by the way my Fedex account is in Singapore.. Not sure if it works..

Thank you.

Regards

Faustine

The reason for the file having the _ at the end is because that code is not yet completed

Thank you for the quick reply. I'll stop scouring the fields for the wayward extension now.

would prefer to see a fedex module as a default from OpenCart, rather than a 3rd party one.. :) ie, paid... :)

I don't consider a paid extension from Q to be "third party."

By charging for specialty extensions that require interface with external partners (i.e. FedEx, the true third party), folks like Q are able to eat while they contribute to maintaining and improving the core, which we enjoy for free.

Maintaining an interface to FedEx is like painting a moving train. I have come to understand that Q has removed his old extension from the market because FedEx has made such extensive changes to their interface that a total rewrite of the extension was the only viable path to the future.

yea.. I understand about that.. but from my point of view, as there is a UPS module incorporated into Opencart by default, and with the Fedex module halfway done, I just feel that to give it a more complete version of the cart, the Fedex module be finished and put to use.. I'm sure quite a number of us felt that way, rather than always seeing a php_ there.. in the shipping modules folder.

Thank you.

Yes, we get it .. you feel cheap :)

Shipping and payment modules are simply a bitch to maintain. The fedex module that "was" included up until 1.4.9.4 was partially finished for the old API which is discontinued as of May 2011 (1 month)

I am working on the new FedEx WSDL API.. but shipping APIs are big and tedious and a lot of work and maintenance.. so a few bucks shouldn't be that hard to toss over for continued support.

Alright then.. Thanks Qphoria for your insight.

Not really as you said I feel cheap.. haha.. Well being in a business, I need to watch my bottomline given the business has not picked up yet... that's why.. :)

I'm not really in high need for the Fedex Module unless I need it extensively. I ever encountered such shipping module elsewhere that is not accurate to the point even after linking to my Fedex Account.... That's the only concern I have -- since I have discounted rates in the Fedex account. (it tends to either state the shipping fees higher or lower...)

I do know the huge work to do it.. due to the fact that its rather cumbersome to code..

No offence taken.

Thanks for your effort!

Is the update coming out soon? Will the update be available free since I previously purchased the FedEx plugin from you?

Thanks in advance!!!

No. FedEx chose to stop supporting their API, not me. They require devs to code using a completely new API now which means a completely new mod and no upgrades

Hi -
Any idea when the module will be available? I know your '...ready in a week...' was some time ago.... We depended on FedEx in our previous environment and need to go back to them again... so this is a REAL NEED !

Would shure love to know when it might be 'real' ??

PS - Need any help testing?? <grin>

I too am a big Fedex shipper and not having this ability in opencart is frustrating. :(

Q I too can help with testing on my site if need be. Please let us know when this is ready for use. :)

So does this mean the current Fedex mod not functioning, functioning but pricing may be suspect or functioning normally?
I have a customer that has the fedex module installed and uses it as his only shipping method.

No issues with paying for the upgrade. ETA?

The only existing fed ex module was mine but fed ex is dropping support four that version of their api. So I've stopped selling it and am working on a new fed ex mod with the new api. Should be done by end of month
