Can you set a coupon with no value?

Good afternoon,

We are using Version 2.1.0.1, is it possible to apply a coupon with no value? The idea is whenever we see the code say "FREEITEM" for a £40 spend we will add a free item to their order. If I try and set a coupon with 0 value you can enter it at checkout but it wont appear under sub total as there is no value so we would never know to add a free item, I could set the value to 0.1 but that would create a lot more work.

Thank you for any help.

I think you're better off getting a free gift extension from the marketplace.

Thanks for your reply Johnp,

I was thinking of going down that route but then time we have brought an extension for 29.99 we could of just set the discount to -1p and I don't expect it would cost us that much. Just wanted to check if there was anyway around it first before going down that route. Thank you

Yeah, coupons don't fit here at all.

A discount coupon would work for you as you know what the deal is. I would say a free gift extension would be easier for the customer to use. :)
