Opencart "Customers online" versus google analytics

Full disclosure... I have been remiss in keeping google analytics up to date AND have, in the last 6 months changed to OC 2.3.0.2.
I do NOT have the SEO tool any longer that I was using for 1.5.6.4.
BUT now that I have setup google analytics again I see an interesting item... In the customers online I have at times from 120ish to 800ish online. With google analytics I have 1 to 10.
Also the sales volume has dropped in the last few months but my industry is more of a inside / winter industry so summer decline in sales isn't too concerning.
So what I am interested in is two-fold.
1) Why the difference in #s between what OC says I have online and google analytics?
2) I do not wish, and I am not asking for secret website traffic knowledge, but what I am asking about it suggestions for what is really most important today OR better yet a way to judge what I have.
I KNOW content is king but in my market the sad piece is that most sellers sell the same thing with the same basic description.
FYI
My website does work on mobile and I know that is important these days.
BUT JUST yesterday I noticed my old android tablet the "three line menu" doesn't function. Seems to function on every other device but this old tablet so that is certainly one item I need to investigate.
P.S. If you just wish to answer #1 above that is ok too

no obligation for any reply further if you don't want to.

Can't much help with #2 anyway, but as for #1, google has $billions, massive amounts of technology, access to masive amounts of data and they can work out what is "Real" traffic as opposed to bots, search engines, web crawlers, bot nets, spammers, hack attemps etc etc. A lot of the traffic is likely to be web crawlers and it can be quite hard to figure out what they are as they don't always identify themselves and masqurade as standard browsers, MSN used to be the main culprit for that, but there is now much more of it about.
That is the main difference between the two numbers that you are seeing.
If you look at AWSTATS or similar in your webhosting, you will see the amount of traffic that you are seeing inside opencart, but some of that traffic will be identified as the above noted trash - it's not great reporting but give you an indication of what is going on.
Though, even google with $billions and other IP Address services don't always get it right - I used to be in Vietnam aparently. Never been there!

Logical. I am sorry it took me a bit to reply but I missed your reply.
I am not seeing more realistic #s but it also seems to fit with my lower # of sales. i.e. I am actually seeing lower #s of traffic. I guess I will see if that one glitch is a real glitch for mobile and if ti is I guess someone might get hired to figure that one out.
Thank you for the reply!

As for you visitors, as grgr stated, oc is logging literaly every visit, real visistor, bot scammer hacker etc.
Google analytics shows real visistors and to be real only what they want you to see.
I personally refuse to use google analytics, to track whats going on, I use matomo, former piwik, it shows a pure visitor log and in a very detailed way i much prefer this over google, side matter its more secure and does fit the european regulations better.
As for a drop in sales and visitors whn updating a oc site thats is to be expected, site structure is changed and entire site needs to be reindexed.
It will take some time, but im sure oc 2.x will upgrade sales in the end.
Im assuming you did work on your site as discussed some time ago regarding product content.

You pointed it out yourself but I really have trust that things will get better ones you make the website accessible for mobile devices. The number proof that:
mobile devices accounted for 48 percent of web page views worldwide (source: statista)

Actually you are assuming something that I didn't write. It
does work on mobile.
So far I have only found one device it doesn't work on and that is a old android tablet. That is the only device of the 9 of my own I tried and have never received a complaint from anyone about the issue. As indicated it was just that one device and I do not know why for that single device.

I do not remember your comment from before but yes I am constantly updating my product content. There is a need for the specifics to be basically the same no matter who sells the product because it is important information but I have added more content and descriptions to the products. Also some of our own flavor to the descriptions that most wouldn't use because some people are too stuffy but we provide honest product details. i.e. 'This is an economy product so do not expect world class from this but at $3.00 it does what it is intended. If you want solid performance we recommend xyz product'

The goal is to determine which of the two visitor tracking services on your site to install to measure which type of visitors coming to your site. First, let's take a look at the two major product tracking/analytics companies on the market: Opencart and Google Analytics.
