Creating a template for a microfiche product

I am using Version 3.0.3.3
Techie question...
I need to create/program a new type of product - it will be a product that has multiple components. For example - an engine with components like a battery, fuel pump, heads, carb, etc.... where I display the image of the engine and then list out the various components where each component can be ordered.
Here is an example of what I need to create/program.

This is a wordpress site that I started creating but quickly found that wordpress just cannot handle the number of images and components that I will need to be adding. (20 years of models, each year having 20 - 40 components)
In addition to creating a new table of these components, do I just create a new "product template" for this type of product and then revise the sql to retrieve the components and list them on the product page or
? Where will I put the sql that is needed to extract the components so they can be displayed?
Or am I just nuts
