V2.1.0.2 - Unmodified
Had a recent order for 4 units of the same product. The cart should of multiplied the weight by 4 but it didn't and charged postage for only 1 unit resulting in a postage cost loss.
I have tested this myself a few times using the same postal destination, postal method and identical items but it is working correctly for me and multiplies the weight by 4.
Has anyone experienced this before?

This issue can be related to the Shipping module, Checkout module. You have not mentioned which shipping and checkout module you are using.

I am using PayPal Payments Standard and Royal Mail shipping.

Just the standard one that came with the install.

I was thinking a case where the customer had changed the product quantity on the checkout page, and shipping cost did not reflect the new quantity changes.
In fact, I got a similar case that happened in the one page/quick checkout module that fails to reflect updated shipping costs sometimes.
As you are using basic checkout, this is not the case.
