There seem to be persistent posts regarding cache issues with OC v3.x releases when users selects the automatic settings from the OC admin security modal window. In order to avoid many issues, do NOT select the automatic settings.
This unknown integrated option is for decoration purposes only!
Update: This decoration works well with dedicated servers.
Followed are both options provided in case of problematic configurations of the security modal window in the future:
- Automatic settings that has been selected and the cache no longer responds: viewtopic.php?f=202&t=202985&p=717777#p717777
- Manual settings and the admin is not sure of the next on how to proceed afterwards: viewtopic.php?f=202&t=201745#p713479
- VQMod Cache Instructions:

In addition to possibly several OC caches holding data (depending on the version), don't forget to clear your browser's cache too! Browsers cache pages for a while, and until a cached page ages out, it won't be refreshed from OC on your server -- you have to force it. Also, some hosts have page caches of their own, to lessen server load. You'll have to talk to them to see if you can (or should) force a page refresh. Once you have cleared all caches, a request from your browser should result in the latest and greatest version of the requested page.
Most browsers will also permit you to clear one page at a time from the cache, such as by pressing F5 or Ctrl+F5. This is forcing a reload of a page, regardless of its cache status or age. However, you would have to do this for each page that might be affected.

MrPhil's post would be correct regarding the enforcement. I was able to reproduce the event on a custom job for a client as it seem that JSON response in the OC admin might originate from other pages. For instance, a user could try to clear the error logs but the JSON response would only appear in the admin - > extensions - > extensions page to see the results.MrPhil wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 10:55 pmIn addition to possibly several OC caches holding data (depending on the version), don't forget to clear your browser's cache too! To temporarily rectify that situation, see this post: viewtopic.php?t=205357&start=20#p739757 . However, take note that this solution should only be used for temporary reasons and NOT as a permanent solution. This workaround can remove security on backward compatibility APIs in Opencart and is not suggested to be used on a permanent basis. If the server is encountering issues with Cache Controls, better to contact your host to rectify the situation. If your host cannot assist you on this matter, it is better to look for another web hosting service since this issue is not specifically related to web browsers.
Also take note that the provided solution does not reflect to rectify domain cache issues situations. Those events might require advanced troubleshooting on the file server.
A post that recommends forum users to check with their hosts regarding hosting settings: viewtopic.php?f=202&t=217909&p=787647#p787647 .
For those who are considering using this workaround, please read the following post prior to consider the solution: viewtopic.php?f=202&t=217909#p787746 . While it is under the forum users' total discretion to add this workaround solution, it is still unsupported by the forum.
Note: These code additions is NOT required on full dedicated servers (fully managed)
