hi has anyone been able to sort this as i am not very good with this side of coding and really need to use sumup as my payment system i use it for card payment in person and would like to keep payments systems to a minimum.

SumUp Payment extension is available on OpenCart Marketplace. It allows your customers to pay with credit card. Customers can even save up to 4 cards and select them on checkout for faster payment (experimental). If you have any questions about this extension, please, send me an email or message in Skype.
