(opencart version 1.4.7)

Hi

We recently had an order from Northern Ireland and the customer claimed that we didn't have their town on the list for addresses. We looked into this and found that it wasn't there. I'm currently customizing the site to allow orders from Ireland to be processed separately. Can someone provide me with a list of Northern and R.O.I. towns and villages and how to input them into the system/website.

Thanks

Hi there, we are also in Manchester and also trying to set up postal zones for the UK. I am really struggling at the minute with areas such as the scottish highlands etc. I would appreciate any help with how you set up your geozones. Hope to hear from you, would be appreciated.

I don't have the list for you but I can tell you that the ROI has about 3500 towns and you'll need two to three entries for each if you're going to add them all in. There's quite a high number too that are duplicated in multiple counties (ie Kells in about 3 of them).

I'm Irish born and raised and live in Dublin - Ireland differs from the UK in that our population is small so at present we don't use Post Codes, although this may change in the next couple of years as the way business is done globally is changing exponentially. When it comes to place names in Ireland, I'm afraid you are opening a hornets' nest as place names are based upon historic events and practices in Ireland that have been anglicized and have had their meaning changed and lost over time and won't make sense to all or any but ourselves in translation (like a lot of places I'm sure).

To skip to the point ... I don't think that town names are as important as you feel that they are - To get to an address in Ireland - what you need is this

Name (First Name and Last Name)
Address (Can look peculiar as 3/4 of Ireland is Rural and addresses have roots in history)
County (Up to yourself - Use 26 or 32)
Postal Code (these are really small and only apply to Dublin 3 characters max)
Phone Number (Useful for obvious reasons)

That's about it folks

I'm only a pm away if you need to consult the oracle
