bypass cart and go directly to checkout

I do hope this is the correct forum.
Does anyone know how to modify the "buy" button to go directly to checkout and bypass the cart? I've been trying to figure it out for two days. Unfortunately, I'm not a coder and have not achieved any results. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
