Hello guys,
How can I assign my products to all subcategories of one parent category. I add new subcategories 5-6 times in a month but I have 500 items and all of them are related with all subcategories of the parent category. I just want to be able when I add NEW subcategory AAA of parent category A, the product to be auto assigned to AAA if the product is already assigned to A.
Thank you.

This is not a default Opencart feature, customization will be needed to perform such a task.

Hello and many thanks for your reply. So, is there a way but not with mass product edit extension but just auto process - if you add new subcategory, all products in the main category to be auto assigned to the new subcategory?

So, is there a way ...
Well is a will exists, and a pocket full of money, just about everything
can be done. But since this is not an OC default feature, it needs
to be custom-designed for you, and such does usually not come for free.

It cannot be done with default Opencart options - either with a side module or SQL requests.
By the way, my module can perform such actions - you can filter products with necessary (parent) category and mass add children categories to them:

It is not difficult to do this surface deep only.

Rather than the product actually being assiged to a sub-category, you just query all the categories from the parent down and sccop up all the products to display from those higher level categories.

Don't know what you are selling but in this manner, either your parent category makes no sense or you sub categories make no sense.

It might be that filters make more sense.

Perhaps, but categories are for navigation only, from general to specific, onces the specific equals the general, there is no longer a purpose for categories.

I did have a customer that only added the products to the specific end of line sub-category but wanted the products in the categories going up the chain.
It worked fine, no issue with wierd category issues or anything and all made sense.

All products in the chain are in the top level category and less and less products as you work your way down.

Yes, that is how it should be.
