using images as links

I was wondering if someone can help me. Basically i want to create a page 'Bathrooms' , when the user has arrived at this page is there a way of creating sub categories on the content of the page with images. Example baths and a picture of a bath that once clicked it will take you to the page with all the baths on?
I'm still a bit of a novice at this still, so i apologise now if this is a simple thing to set up. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well, asking the same question again after a few months does not make much sense,
if you still delievere neither figures, not facts:

One could also use an empty category Page Mod, to then add onto, whatever one likes:

Apologies Ernie, I reposted as i still do not know how to acheive this and thought someone could help as i assumed this was what the forum was for?
I was going to manually add the code to a page so that i can set a table up with 6 images in that are all linked to different pages (using images as href's as a sub catergory in the main content of the page) once the user clicks on them but i believe true or false that the category pages are set up in a database so it's not as simple as editing html code. I'm just trying to make it easier navigation instead of using the top menu

I've attached a screen shot of the site so you can see it clear. Basically where the sub categories are in a list under 'refine search' as Text i would prefer it to show pictures with the headers instead of just a text list.

Well, this would need a paid Custom made Extension, and it would be a time-consuming
task, because every product found needs to be 'addressed' to 'deliever' it's image-link.
And such would only make sence, load-time-wise, if only a few Products are existing in
such a Shop. Exept, if one get's it all indexed too, but that's even more expensive...
