This one is free, it just requires a API key to be used.

Another free alternative.

This API would not be as useful as the Yahoo Finance used to be unfortunately since it requires to have a symbol in the URL which, of course, initializing CURL won't be supported during loops. Rather an API with imploded symbols needs to be found in order to get it replaced by the previous Yahoo Finance API.

Yahoo is one of the companies, that ruin themselves: Microsoft, Ubisoft, you name it. Their time has passed a long time ago and new management is simply killing it. Closing the service just because somebody was using it improperly... wow, that's something new. I'll be surprised if they won't start sinking even faster after this stupid action.

So I'd call this topic "Yahoo is down for good".

You dont need cURL to access it anyway. I fail to see the problem in it, you make a few more requests and that's it.

To fix the issue with Yahoo Finance API I've created a small free extension called Exchange Rate Providers, which adds a list of exchange rate providers to global store settings. Currently it has only 2 options - Yahoo and Fixer, but list of providers can be expanded by request. Fixer takes rates from ECB and works fine for now, yet in case Yahoo decides to restore its service, you can always select it in settings.

Compatible with all OC 2.0 versions, will work with OC 1.5 and 3.0 after some tweaking.

The downloads are still broken in the marketplace. I've created a topic on the website suggestions section of the forum about it.

And you think Yahoo is behind this, right? :-)

Non-related. I answered to the post above regarding the new published extension which, unfortunately, cannot be either downloaded or easily downloaded due to download issues right now on the marketplace, still, for unknown reasons.

Guess, it happens only on certain configurations or browsers, because I can download everything just fine.

I see. Then perhaps an explanation could be provided when seeing the following results when hitting the download button only on the marketplace and nowhere else:

Code: Select all

Looks to me that it's rather a download header function issue.

Just to confirm thekrotek, the download in the market is working fine... There must be something wrong at your end...

Just tested both paid and free downloads with Chrome and IE... No problems.

The download seem to be working fine with Google Chrome but not with IE / Edge ... although, it seem to be the only site where I am having issues with the downloads from the marketplace. From the forum, there are no issues.

Hi thekrotek

I found this post and saw you developed a extension Exchange Rate Providers.

Can it work with opencart version 1.5.6.4 and if so does it do automatic rate updates?

I replied you in email already, but will repeat here. This extension only adds an alternative to default Yahoo Finance provider. The rest of the functionality remains the same.

And it will not work with OC 1.5 right out of the box. You need to tweak it a bit.

I don't work with OC 1.5 for quite a long time already, sorry. And I'd recommend you to upgrade to OC 2.0, because the more you wait, the less customization options you will have.
