USPS Shipping options OC 2.3

Hi:

Im using OC 2.3

Is there a way to add or change USPS shipping options per product.
For instance If i have a product that is 12" X 8" X 8" in size and 5 pounds and I have flat rate envelope, Small flat rate box, and large flat rate box checked in the USPS mod it will show all three options at check out since the weight limit is 70 pounds. the object will not fit in the flat rate envelope. But I want to keep the option checked in the mod for items that it will fit. Any help is appreciated.

The built-in USPS shipping method has never taken into account product dimensions, and unfortunately there's no easy way to change that. You'd have to get a commercial extension that checks the calculated package dimensions against the options USPS returns, and filters out the right rates. My USPS Pro extension can do that, if you're interested.

Alternately, you can disable the flat rate box rates in the USPS shipping method, and use something like Weight & Volume-Based Shipping to set up the rates for flat rate boxes. It's not exactly a 3-dimensional packing algorithm, but it works for most situations to see if a combination of items would fit into a particular flat rate box.
